Wellness is a mess
Wellness is a mess. It’s hard to know how to market when everything is broken. The alternative medicine space has become mixed with misinformation, supplement industry infiltration, and an ironic change of focus from patient to practitioner on social media. This ethical turn is so disheartening to me, as I do believe that patients can benefit from the addition of complementary care in their health. Anyone who has had to navigate a complex health issue knows how difficult it is maintaining any control when seeing multiple specialists who are siloed to just one part of the body. The more relaxed and freeform complimentary visits can be so useful in bringing things all together and making plans for advocacy. I think this has real value and it is what I enjoy most.
Going forward my goal remains the same: to provide grounded and objective advice to help patients make decisions in their best interest. I will continue to help people navigate the complex conventional health system and provide the educational time that is often left out of short office visits. I won’t recommend supplements unless they have data or a reasonable rationale about why they could be useful. And I’ll educate you about them so you can decide if they are worth your time or money.
My hope is that you experience few diagnostic delays or unnecessary medical tangents on your way to a treatment plan that is effective for your concern.
